SetDesc: "H1PDF2017 [NNLO] (Q2min=10GeV2) with experimental and
alpha_s uncertainty variations at 68%CL. The 26 error PDFs should be
treated two by two as the up and down excursions along 13 components
of the uncertainty, such that the symmetric error is calculated as the
quadrature sum of [Sum i=0,13 of (var 2*i+1 - var 2*i)/2 ]. If asymmetric
errors are desired, Eqn 43 of Campbell, Huston and Stirling
hep-ph/0611148 can be applied. mem=0 => central; mem=1-26 => error
eigenvectors.
The uncertainties are represented in a form such that the strong
coupling alpha_s is different from the central result 0.114181 only
for sets 0001 and 0002, which potentially simplifies calculations:
(1) calculate three times from scratch with set=0,1,2 to obtain alphas
uncertainty and PDF uncertainty contributions correlated with alpha_s,
(2) reweight from set=0 to set=3..26 to obtain PDF uncertainty
contributions not correlated with alpha_s.
In any case, the full PDF uncertainty is obtained only after including
all 26 variations. It then includes both the alpha_s and the PDF uncertainty."
